The Trent University Sasquatch Society is making its return to Owen Sound to film part of a new 13-episode show.
Leader of the university’s Sasquatch Society Ryan Willis says following their visit to the area last summer to speak to residents in hope of launching a TV pilot, their show has been picked up by Wild TV Network.
The popular mythical creature is rumoured to be ape-like in appearance, wandering forested areas across North America, who’s existence has not been definitively proven.
Willis says he and two of his fellow researchers plan to visit Owen Sound and the surrounding area again in a couple months to meet back up with the people they initially met to film the pilot.
“We got some pretty good reports back in the area that were quite interesting. We went and followed up and that was some of those people, but now we actually have a proper show and a filming crew, we want to go back and meet up with them again and anyone else who has had more encounters since we were there. We came in the summer so it has been a while now and we want to know if anyone else has seen anything and if they have, we obviously want to talk to them and have them on the show,” says Willis.
Willis says the area appears to have quite the Sasquatch following as some of the stories they were told by residents of Owen Sound include one witness who saw a Sasquatch behind a sign on a local highway, while another claims they saw the creature looking at them through a window.
“We hope to make a different kind of bigfoot show that hasn’t really been seen before which covers not just the common notion that it is an ape we are dealing with, but also examine whether these creatures might be alien or telepathic beings or have other paranormal qualities like that as well as the ape theories we wish to investigate, so we are really looking forward to that and just educating people on the subject,” says Willis.
Willis adds the show will take place across Ontario, including in Barrie and Peterborough.
The show will be airing this September both on TV and online, and more details can be found on Wild TV here.
Willis encourages those who have experienced Sasquatch to reach out to the group by emailing sasquatchuniversity@gmail.com or by visiting the Sasquatch University website here.
