A special evening with NHL alumni in support of Easter Seals is coming up in Port Elgin.
The Grey Bruce Celebrity Hockey Sports Dinner is set to take place on March 2nd.
It will be attended by Wendell Clark, Shayne Corson, Brad May and other hockey celebrities.
The evening at the Lakeshore Centre includes a silent auction table, a draft selection, appetizers and a three-course meal.
The highlight of the night is the NHL Hot Stove hosted by Rod Black.
Teams registered to play in the Hockey Classic will receive a table to the event.
To reserve a spot at the dinner, call Charlene Myke at 705-487-0424 or email cmyke@easterseals.org
The dinner March 2nd, precedes the Grey Bruce Celebrity Hockey Classic March 3rd, which is a two-game tournament that allows local hockey enthusiasts the opportunity to play alongside the greats.
If you play in the tournament, it also includes personalized team jerseys and socks in corporate colours, an NHL Great on your team and in your dressing room sharing their NHL experiences, two games of hockey, lunch, snacks, and water, and an opportunity to play in the All-Star game.
The events support Easter Seals which is a charitable organization that advocates for children with physical disabilities. They operate summer camps that Easter Seals describes on its website, as having “a multitude of physical and emotional benefits including the development of social skills, independence, self-esteem and confidence.”
Easter Seals also fundraises for accessibility and mobility equipment and participates in government consultations on issues affecting people with physical disabilities. The organization has also developed a parent advocacy kit to help families ensure their child is receiving the support and care they need.
