A proposal to build a new indoor self-storage facility in Owen Sound’s east end is progressing.
City council approved a recommendation at its meeting Monday to direct staff to bring forward zoning by-law amendment for a 10-building storage facility at 1730 27th Avenue East, in the East Ridge Business Park.
The property is located just northwest of Van Dolder’s Custom Exteriors.
The application from Andpet Realty Limited calls for an indoor self-storage facility with 10 buildings. One would be two storeys and include an office, while the other nine structures are storage buildings that would be spaced across the property.
A 26-space parking area (including four accessible spaces), an internal driveway system, landscaping including retaining walls and an on-site stormwater management area are also part of proposed the industrial development.
Owen Sound’s director of community services Pam Coulter told councillors Monday there were no public comments submitted, while agency feedback was generally positive.
