Southern Georgian Bay OPP and the staff of the Mid Ontario Snowmobile Clubs are reminding snowmobilers to check trail status and ice conditions before heading out.
The organizations say that just because we’re seeing wintery weather doesn’t mean that trails are automatically open.
At this point, there are a few routes open in the North Simcoe area, but a majority of trails are still unavailable.
They’re referring everyone to check the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs’ interactive trail guide, and remind everyone that those who ride on closed trails face possible fines and risk not having insurance coverage in the event of an incident.
