There are plenty of events planned in Grey Bruce for New Year’s Eve.
The City of Owen Sound is holding a family event at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre from noon to 4 p.m.
There will be public skating from 12 to 2 p.m., open swimming at the YMCA from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., as well as between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. There will also be groove dancing with Tyler Boyle, which starts at 2 p.m.
At the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library, kids can check out Tech Toys.
At the Roxy Theatre, the Beckett Family is performing at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Owen Sound Legion has a celebration featuring the Rocklyn Creek Ramblers and Friends. Doors open at 8 p.m.
Among many businesses hosting events, Heartwood Hall is hosting a dance party. Doors open at 8, and music starts at 9. Jazzmyn’s bar also has entertainment.
In Georgian Bluffs, Cobble Beach is holding a Casino Royale event with live music, casino games including roulette and blackjack tables. There will be a raffle at 11:30 and a toast at midnight. There’s also a complimentary return shuttle to Owen Sound.
Rick Mercer will be at Blue Mountain Resort where he’s set to host a New Year’s Eve broadcast on CBC. It will have live music.
In Meaford, a Holiday Run & Food Drive is planned for the Meaford Harbour Pavilion at 9 a.m.
Later, there is live music at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre with R&B artist JRDN, Raw Dog Family and Caleigh Barker. Doors open at 8:30.
In Clarksburg there is a celebration featuring live music with Juanita and the Big Deal.
In Hanover, the Legion is holding a meat raffle from 3 to 5 p.m. and live music with Crossroads at 8 p.m.
Saugeen First Nation is holding a New Year’s Eve Round Dance @ James Mason Rec Centre 5 p.m. -11:30 p.m. the event will include a pipe ceremony, a feast, round dance and giveaway.
The Lucknow Community Centre is hosting a New Year’s Eve video Dance Party at 8:30 p.m.
The Durham Legion has a dance featuring Flashback. Doors open at 8.
On New Year’s Day, a polar plunge is being held at the beach at the Flagpole on High Street in Southampton.
