Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings are in effect across our region.
Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for Barrie and Collingwood & area while Blizzard Warnings have been issued for parts of Muskoka and Orillia.
Crippling blizzard conditions in Orillia and parts of Muskoka including Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Port Carling, Port Severn, Rosseau, and Parry Sound.
Traveling through these areas will also be extremely difficult-to-impossible at times and is not advised.
OPP is urging people to stay off the roads and says all roads in Dufferin County have been closed. Barrie, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Muskoka Lakes, District of Muskoka, Lake of Bays, Springwater and Oro Medonte have declared significant weather events, which means it may take longer than usual to bring the roads and sidewalks in these areas to optimal conditions.
Other parts of Muskoka remain under serious Winter Storm Warnings.
Temperatures are expected to continue to drop in all areas and strong winds will continue throughout today (SAT).
Up to 50 cm of snow is expected in some areas by tonight (SAT).
Today and Sunday we can expect blowing snow and cold wind chills to continue.
