Hanover Police have charged a man after a foot chase.
Police Chief Christopher Knoll says on Twitter, Hanover police officers monitoring a municipal parking lot for thefts watched as a suspect walked between rows of parked vehicles peering inside each one as he went along.
Knoll says, when officers approached the suspect, he fled on foot resulting in a foot chase for several blocks through backyards.
According to Knoll, the suspect was located by the pursuing officer under a utility trailer after a citizen pointed out the suspect’s location.
Officers recovered stolen property from two backpacks the suspect tossed during the chase.
They arrested a 49-year-old man from Mount Forest.
Knoll says, “This serves as a good reminder to lock your vehicles & secure your valuables from sight. While you were out Christmas shopping this afternoon … so was he.”
