The 7th annual Light the Way Radiothon on Bayshore Broadcasting’s 97.9 The Bruce surpassed its fundraising goal for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The goal for the 12-hour day December 8th, was to fundraise for seven pieces of needed equipment for the hospital in Southampton.
This year, with the support and generosity of listeners along with area residents the Light the Way Radiothon raised $215,000 in 12 hours. The goal had been $185,000.
Foundation Executive Director Tracy Murray says in a statement, “The foundation and its board members are completely thrilled by the outpouring of support of this year’s radiothon but aren’t surprised since the people, businesses, sports clubs and even the kids of Saugeen Shores and the surrounding communities have been overwhelmingly supportive of the Foundation over the years.”
She adds, “The Foundation is grateful once again to have 97.9 The Bruce partnering with us for this event. The Radiothon wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for the support of Bayshore Broadcasting. Bruce Telecom is also a key partner for this event, supplying and setting up the phone lines to allow people to call in during the Radiothon said Stacey Catalano, Board Chair of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.”
Murray says, “The biggest thank you goes out to every person and business that called in or dropped by the station to donate during the event and making it such an amazing success and so much fun.”
Light the Way runs until the end of December and is the Foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser.
