Owen Sound Hospital outpatient lab services will be eliminated at the start of the new year.
Grey Bruce Health Services say throughout the last several months, health human resource challenges have affected hospitals across the province. GBHS has been no exception, as they have felt these pressures in many of their hospitals and services.
One of these services which has seen substantial impact is the lab at the Owen Sound site, while trying to balance increasing demand for its service.
GBHS says to ensure they are able to meet the needs of their patients, as of Jan. 1, 2023, they will be eliminating outpatient lab services, with the exception of oncology patients.
The GBHS adds this adjustment in services will reduce pressures on the Owen Sound lab team, and enable focus on bloodwork for their inpatients, as well as ER, and oncology patients.
“LifeLabs continues to be the local option for those requiring bloodwork,” says GBHS.
