West Grey Police have charged a 22 year old woman after she reportedly drove through the scene of a fatal collision that had been blocked off by police.
They say in a release, it happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 13th.
According to police, their members were preserving the scene of a two-vehicle collision that happened a number of hours earlier on Grey Road 4 between Allan Park Road and Grey Road 3 in West Grey.
Police say, at 2:30 a.m., a vehicle circumvented the ‘road closed’ signs which had flashing lights on them and drove 1.7 km on the closed section of highway.
They claim the driver ignored police vehicles and officers, then drove through the debris field of the earlier collision.
Police blocked the path of the vehicle and stopped the driver. They say a roadside intoxication screening device registered a ‘fail.’ The driver was arrested and police say, tests at the station showed them to have twice the legal limit of blood alcohol concentration.
A 22 year old West Grey woman is charged with impaired driving and driving on a closed highway.
Her vehicle was impounded for seven days and her licence was suspended for 90 days.
