County Council heard an annual update on the county’s Corporate Climate Change Adaptation Plan at this week’s meeting.
The plan was initially approved by council in October 2020, and originally contained 14 goals in 5 priority areas.
Based on the presentation given to council by Climate Change & Energy Specialist Derry Wallis, Huron County is projected to see a 3-degree increase in temperature by 2050 and more extreme weather if changes aren’t made.
The goals of the plan included tracking utility usage and greenhouse gas emissions, installing electric vehicle charging ports across Huron County, and even replacing the boilers at the Courthouse and replacing them with more energy-efficient models.
