A play to honour veterans is set to be performed at the legion in Owen Sound.
It’s being presented by The Fellowship of Ravens, which is a group that uses artistry to make a positive impact in the community.
Producer, Director, co-author and Owen Sound Legion Public Relations Officer Jana Lewis says, “A Soldier’s Letter is actually a play based on a book my sister and I created to honour our veterans, remember those that served and assist those battling PTSD,” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) It was written a number of years ago to commemorate Remembrance Day.
Lewis says Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff will be reciting a poem at the event, which is set to take place on Wednesday, November 9th.
Marilyn Lightstone, who Lewis says was in Anne of Green Gables is a contributor as well as Gemini award winning actor Art Hindle, who has also submitted a poem. Mark Ryan from Transformers and Vincent Corazza from Sailor Moon have also recited a poem to be presented.
“It’s going to be a combination of our poetry from the book which will be recited as well as stories about the legion and veterans stories,” says Lewis.
She notes, proceeds from the event will go to the Royal Canadian Legion.
Tickets are $10 for general admission or $5 for those 12 and under.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. From 6 to 7 p.m. there will be a dessert bar with tea and coffee. The play begins at 7 p.m.
You can call 519-376-7784 to buy your ticket or go into the Owen Sound Branch to buy them. You can also buy your ticket at the door on Nov 9th.
