The Community Foundation Grey Bruce is providing $248,000 in support of local charities and non-profits.
The foundation says various organizations have applied for funding to start and grow projects through three grant streams this fall, including Kids Can Play Bruce Grey, Fall Community Grants, and Capital Grants.
Community Living Kincardine & District received $3,000 through the Kids Can Play Bruce Grey grant for their All Kids Can Play inclusion project. It creates training and resources for coaches, volunteers and the community to use to make their programs more inclusive and welcoming for children of all abilities.
The Bruce Grey Mentorship also received a $20,000 grant through the Capital Grant stream to improve its outdoor space, as well as improving safety and accessibility to their location. The funds will support a basketball court and outdoor play area for their mentors and mentees.
A number of other organizations have also received grants this fall, including the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere, Georgian Bay Symphony, Earth Day Grey Bruce, Southampton Arts, Grey Bruce Hospice, The Hanley Institute, and The Meeting Place Tobermory.
Foundation Grants Coordinator Jen Legge says The Kids Can play grant lets them focus on youth recreation projects, which saw a decline in applications during the pandemic.
“This fall, we saw diverse applications from sports to art workshops and open mic events,” says Legge.
Details on attaining a grant from the foundation can be found on its website here.
Applications for the spring 2023 grants will open in January and close April 15.
