Huron County Council was able to give their support for the rezoning of a property to allow for an 81-unit apartment building in Goderich.
The land in question, 191 Suncoast Drive East, had originally been zoned for a four-storey hotel, and now developers want to instead use the land for an apartment building.
Neighbours of the lot have voiced their concerns over noise, the shadow that the building could cast, and a loss of privacy, but the county says that their concerns have been considered and adjustments to the design have been made.
The developer and municipal staff had been initially hoping that the proposed building would ideally appeal to seniors who are looking to downsize.
