The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) is using a nearly $136,000 grant towards offering recovery, self-management and well-being courses in Grey Bruce.
The CMHA received funds earlier this year from the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Communities Fund Grant to help the organization recover from the pandemic.
The funds are going to the Recovery College, which is accessible to anyone in delivering in-person and virtual services in the region, says a release from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers.
It offers a variety of courses, with the funds being used to support students in gaining new skills and connecting with others in the community, while also assisting with the costs associated with staffing, training, purchasing technical equipment, and administration.
Program Manager for CMHA Grey Bruce Recovery College Cheryl McMillan says, the investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation towards their Recovery College is great news for many in the community.
“This grant will allow us to expand our program reaching many in the community by establishing social connection, hope identity, and empowerment through education,” says McMillan.
