West Grey Police have arrested a man on drug charges after a call about gunshots in Ayton which turned out to be unrelated.
Police say, on Tuesday, October 25th, they responded to the gunshot report and found a man in the area on a motorcycle with improper plates.
Police say they initiated an investigation, and learned the driver had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The motorcycle was impounded, and police say their investigation revealed the incident was unrelated to the report of gunshots.
Police say they searched the man’s property and seized a large quantity of crystal meth valued at $15,000, a small quantity of Fentanyl valued at about $100, a quantity of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms) valued at $100, several electronic scales, baggies, and drug paraphernalia.
As a result of their investigation a 34-year-old male from West Grey has been arrested and is charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 1 Substance – Fentanyl
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 3 Substance – Psilocybin
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and was later released by the Ontario Court of Justice.
Police did not provide information relating to whether or not the gunshot call was later resolved.
