The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has a new head of council after two-term mayor Janice Jackson was defeated in tonight’s election.
According to unofficial results, The Bruce County Warden lost to newcomer Garry Michi who garnered 2,853 votes or 52.1 per cent.
Jackson received 2,491 votes or 45.5 per cent of the vote in the two-person mayoral race after third candidate Don Tedford passed away unexpectedly during the campaign period.
Jackson was first elected in 2010 as a councillor and was elected mayor in 2014.
She was elected twice as Bruce County Warden, and had been the sitting warden at the time of the election.
