Section of road approved for a paved shoulder, east of Exeter.
A motion has been passed by county council to consider additional shoulder paving on County Road 83.
Huron County Council received the report from Public Works for the additional paving on County Road 83 to widen the shoulders of the road between Morrison Line and Highway 4.
This is because of safety concerns for the temporary foreign workers who ride their bicycles in that stretch.
The idea is to widen the shoulders from the standard 1.5 metres to 2.5 metres, to give more room to share the road with the cyclists.
Some members of council also shared ideas of how to make the stretch of road between Highway 4 and Morrison Line even safer, including additional winter maintenance and the possibility of county staff considering a dedicated alternate route.
