The New Horizons for Seniors Program is taking grant applications for projects intended to make a difference in the lives of seniors and in their communities.
It’s a federal grant through Employment and Social Development Canada. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $25,000 for projects that are led by seniors and are volunteer based.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff says last year, there were over 4,285 applications across the country and over 3,000 projects that were funded.
There are a number of program objectives,
-Promote volunteerism among seniors and other generations
-Engage seniors in the community through the mentoring of others
-Expand awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse
-Support the social participation and inclusion of seniors
-Provide capital assistance for new and existing community projects and programs for seniors
Local groups and organizations can apply until November 1st.
You can do that by looking up the New Horizons Seniors Program grant on the Government of Canada’s website through Employment and Social Development Canada.
