1) Why are you running?
As a relatively new resident of West Grey, I wanted to participate in my community and get to know people.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
Continuing with changes to allow second homes, trailers on empty lots, etc.; requiring greater size mixes in new developments, providing transport options, providing programming for children at affordable rates, salvage “shed” at landfill to divert reusable items, community gardens,
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
Encouraging agrotourism, tax disincentives for empty storefronts, Friday night farmers, market with food, arts and cfrafts and live music to attract revenue from passing cottage traffic.
4) Do you think a municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
Making the community attractive to professionals by planning for appropriate offices, facilities and related infrastructure would assist.
5) What is your vision for the future of police services in West Grey?
I would prefer a local police force for its responsiveness and local knowledge. I also agree that it is council’s job to ask questions to ensure that the budget for that force is checked and balanced.
6) What issue do you believe is a top priority for West Grey to tackle during the next term?
I understand that there is a backlog of pending items that needs to be addressed. Clearing this out woudl be a priority. Also, communication from council to the community needs improvement to improve the impact of actions and decisions.
