1) Why are you running?
Currently being on two council advisory committees being chairperson on both. I can see what I’ve been able to accomplish for the community of West Grey. I believe am able to contribute more than what am able to volunteering on these committees. Bringing my common sense approach to municipal council.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
Looking into tiny house and modular home Committee. Look in to reducing the minimum housing build size. To a smaller square footage. Making housing more affordable.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
Work with council advisory committees, such as Economic development using their ideas to help move West Grey forward
Neustadt Recreation Advisory Committee host town wide yard sale and twice annual craft show. There is little cost in hosting these events. But it draws a large number of people in to the community. Who explore the down town businesses when in town. Similar idea’s could be used in other towns and villages in West Grey.
4) Do you think a municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
The municipality should work with the current physician recruitment project. And the Durham Hospital Foundation.
Also working to keep West Grey looking clean and fresh. So people in the healthcare industry want to live here.
5) What is your vision for the future of police services in West Grey?
I would like to see West Grey move forward with the West Grey police. Looking for possible cost savings
Look into including a spot for future fire station in same lot as police station. Sharing some of the same amenities.
6) What issue do you believe is a top priority for West Grey to tackle during the next term?
Top priority for West Grey to tackle during the next term of council is infrastructure. We need a long term plan on how to repair and replace bridges and roads. This will take longer than a 4 year council term. Looking for possible grants to help out with cost
