1) Why are you running?
I have thought about running for Municipal government for about 10 years now but never felt the time was right. My family have been dealing with some stressful issues that required us to approach the Municipality for assistance. We have not been satisfied with the level of assistance we received so I have decided to run to hopefully solve some of the issues we created so other families don’t have to go through what we are going through.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
I’m sure there are several steps that Municipalities can take regarding the cost of living. However, that is not my area of expertise. If elected I would be happy to work with both paid staff and volunteers from the community who are better qualified to help find solutions.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
I hate to sound repetitive but my answer to this is the same as the question prior. There are staff who are hired because of there expertise in certain areas, and we would be remiss if we do not use them effectively.
4) Do you think a municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
They certainly do. Who better to show what a community has then people who live here. By working with the people we are trying to recruit we can get a better understanding of what they are looking for in a community.
5) What is your vision for the future of police services in West Grey?
I believe it is essential to retain our own police force. West Grey is growing and having our own police presence is a must. I believe there are some legitimate concerns about our force but not anything I don’t think can be fixed.
6) What issue do you believe is a top priority for West Grey to tackle during the next term?
Until elected and can see what all the issues are it is hard to make an informed decision. One of my priorities is transparency and accountability of all staff and council.
