No one was hurt in a fire at McDonald’s Restaurant in Kincardine over the weekend.
Kincardine Fire Chief Brad Lemaich says fire crews were dispatched to the blaze around 8:25 a.m. Sunday morning and were there for about two and a half hours.
Lemaich says staff at the restaurant had already evacuated the building prior to fire crews arriving on scene.
He adds the damage to the McDonald’s was limited to some of the equipment and some of the functions of the building, but did not extend to the structure.
Lemaich says he was not able to determine how much the damage resulted in for the McDonald’s due to their specialized equipment, but estimates it to be around $200,000.
He says the cause of the blaze is currently unknown as the investigations have not yet been completed.
“We did do a brief on-scene investigation yesterday morning. We collected some photographs, made some notes, we will be looking deeper into it and I would be interested in talking further with McDonald’s ownership and their experts,” says Lemaich.
Lemaich says the McDonald’s will be closed for a time, but the length will be determined by an assessment the company will make.
