1) Why are you running?
I put my name forward for mayor of Southgate to be a voice of our community. Southgate needs a strong leader who will be dedicated to serving the residence of our community.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
Municipalities have things they can do to ease the cost of living by watching what services are needed and making sure we watch tax dollars spending.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
We have a strong economic development officer here in Southgate. She has is brought in new industrial businesses and creating jobs to help with job creation. New industrial businesses create more tax dollars.
4) Do you think a municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
Retention and recruitment of physicians and other healthcare workers is definitely a priority for the Township we need to make sure that we can offer the services our residence required here in Southgate. With the new medical building in final approval stages this will be an asset in helping us attract healthcare professional’s.
5) What issue do you believe is a top priority for Southgate to tackle during the next term?
I believe our top priorities in Southgate for the next term with the amount of growth here in Southgate will be looking to ensuring we have infrastructure to support that growth, including adequate healthcare system, recreation facilities that meet the needs of our larger community. Look for all provincial and federal funds available to improve our infrastructure. Have shovel ready projects ready to go.
