1) Why are you running?
My Dad always said “In politics you vote for the one that will screw you over the least”. I don’t think this should be the case, so I am running to change that. I am not afraid to speak the hard stuff, I am not easily offended. The only way to change things is to stop complaining and do something about it.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
Yes. We need to help our residents with affordable housing. I want to promote tiny house communities, mobile home parks, people buying local in markets year round, having community gardens and green houses.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
I feel the town should be buying the old Foodland property and developing that into a year round market similar to Owen Sound. Adding and growing busineses geared to more places to stay, hotels, glamping, high end unique campgrounds. Expanding farming into Hemp farms, hemp products like hempcrete.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
Yes. We need to search for people who like the idea of living rural. We need to help fund and use our Doctor Recruitment team. I feel we should also be helping our young people that want to get involved in the healthcare field, by offering a Bursary.
5) Do you support the approval of a proposed land based Fish Farm in the Wiarton area?
NO, not this Fish Farm. I don’t think our area is right for a Fish Farm that will be the biggest in Canada. My full statement is on smellsfishy.org
6) What are your views on beach maintenance and parking in Sauble Beach?
The town needs to work with the MNR, conservation associations and SFN to come up with a beach maintenance plan that works. Parking is an issue, lack of spaces, safety. Other options needs to be explored. Options previously suggested need to be reconsidered like, one way streets, lines for angle parking, signs for small vehicles only in narrow areas, parallel parking, parking at the community center/other areas and having a shuttle service.
