1) Why are you running?
Before the election was called, I was asked by many individuals, not-for-profits,small businesses and service clubs to run for elected office. I answered their call and stepped up to the plate
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
-The municipality will be asked to assist the not-for-profits, service clubs and NGO’s deliver public good, as they should
– The municipality can, from time to time, use its financial capacity or act as a facilitator to assist in some other areas to provide social good
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
– Our municipality needs to increase business diversification, since our land tax base is heavily dependent upon residential taxation
-We need to continue to encourage value adding within our local business community
-We need to continue to encourage upgrading our communications network, improving the competitive edge that other jurisdictions currently enjoy.
-We need to integrate a conservation economy into our existing tourism, manufacturing, construction and agriculture sectors
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
I believe the current idea of a standalone municipality seeking to attract in the recruitment of doctors and health care workers should be moved towards a more regional team approach, while continuing to attract doctors and health care workers using traditional means.
