1) Why are you running?
Over the past 16 years the H-K portion of my tax bill has risen by 8.3% per year on average. I’m hoping that with a new council in place we can finally see responsible, balanced spending. Spending $2.5million on the creation of an industrial park in Ripley in hopes that South Bruce will get the Nuclear Repository and we can attract a few industries to locate nearby is wasted tax spending.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
Municipalities can hold or reduce user fees in their facilities. Municipalities can hold the line on tax increases or even reduce taxes.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality? The municipality needs to focus on tourism in our area. Stop dreaming of 20 new industries moving into Ripley to set up shop.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment
and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers? Yes, municipalities have a role in the recruitment and retention of healthcare workers to our area. I believe that all they are doing at the present time is what needs to be done. There is nothing more they can do that would make a difference.
