1) Why are you running?
It has been my privilege to bring the concerns of our residents to Huron-Kinloss
Council for the past four years and it would be my honour to continue as a Councillor for the
municipality.
Huron-Kinloss is a beautiful, diverse place. We have grown children that have moved
back here as well and I would like to see us continue to grow as a vibrant, prosperous
community.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
We owe it to our residents to operate the Township efficiently and in a fiscally
responsible manner as the residents and taxpayers are under considerable financial pressure
with the current high inflation rate.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
Do what we can to support and encourage the business community both in our
downtowns as well as the businesses distributed around the township.
Also, keep the taxes down as that is not an insignificant business expense.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
The Township does have a role to play and we have supported the doctor
recruitment teams financially and with Council representation on the committee.
The local hospitals are experiencing a shortage of nurses and other medical staff. The
Wingham Committee has for example been named the Health Professionals Recruitment
Committee to reflect the broadening of the scope of its activities to include all the medical
staff required to keep our Emergency departments open.
