The Billy Bishop Museum is taking steps to make its collections more accessible with funding received in 2021.
A release from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers says the museum received a $34,600 Community Building Fund grant last year.
The release says through a web edition of PastPerfect, the museum’s extensive collection of artifacts will be viewable and searchable by anyone with internet access on their phones, desktops, laptops, and tablet.
PastPerfect is a system used for collection archiving.
The funds awarded by the Ontario government and the Ontario Trillium Foundation were used to help secure PastPerfect licenses, staffing and important operational costs.
“I congratulate the Billy Bishop Museum for all their work in making their amazing exhibits more accessible and interactive through the grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This is a great way to enhance the customer experience of the museum, which is such an important part of our local community,” says Byers.
The release adds the museum has been working hard photographing and cataloguing artifacts this past year and the grant to make this step possible.
