The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is celebrating the Fall season and is announcing a new exhibit coming in October.
They’re announcing a new exhibit called Farm Fresh, which explores the history of farming and agriculture in Bruce County.
Director Cathy McGirr says “We have a temporary exhibit from Archives Ontario, which is called Farm Fresh Ontario, which looks at agriculture from the bigger provincial perspective under four themes. The themes are about transforming the land, life on the farm, strength in community, and from farm to table.”
Part of the exhibit will focus on farm equipment through the ages, including a plough first owned by James “Red Jim” McDonald of Huron Township that was passed down through generations and now resides in the museum.
“You’ll be able to see some other technologies, like a corn planter and a potato planter as well. So lots of stories about our agricultural past, as well as lots of items from the collection that you’ll be able to see as well.”
She also says that the exhibit will celebrate cultural aspects such as Fall Festivals, which is a personal favourite of hers.
The Farm Fresh exhibit runs from October 1st until December 31st.
Museum members get free admission, and general admission applies.
