The next Goods Exchange Day is set for this weekend in Owen Sound.
The City says in a release, on Sept. 24, residents are invited to put out gently-used items which are no longer needed at the curb for community members to pick up and reuse.
Residents can lay out items like sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, books, art, tools, toys, doors, sinks, and windows.
The items that are not claimed by the community, must be back inside the home by 6 p.m. the same day.
People laying out items for Goods Exchange Day, are asked to tie a white plastic bag to one of them, or attach a sign that says “Free.”
The city says by participating in Goods Exchange Day, it diverts usable items and materials from ending up in the landfill.
“It is also a great way to offer your unwanted items to others in the community without the hassle of hosting a garage sale,” says the City.
