More charges have been laid recently in connection with incidents in Wasaga Beach the weekend of Aug 26-28.
OPP has now charged 20 people from throughout the Province with 37 offenses including dangerous driving and stunt driving in connection with an unsanctioned car rally that weekend.
With an increase of visitors expected again in Wasaga Beach this weekend because of another planned rally, OPP says we’ll see increased police presence there, possible traffic delays, and road closures.
The OPP will be working together with the Town, Municipal By-Law, the Wasaga Beach Fire Department, Ontario Parks, and the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors this weekend.
Responsible, respectful and lawful visitors are welcomed to the Town of Wasaga Beach. Officers will follow a “Strict, but Fair” approach and actively patrol, educate and enforce laws to ensure compliance and the safety of everyone.
Visitors are reminded to respect our communities and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighborhoods with risky, illegal, and dangerous actions. Anyone who chooses to participate in illegal activity may be charged and their vehicle may be towed. Those responsible could be charged at a later date after investigations conclude.
Anyone with any information can call the Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
