A Ukrainian flag will be raised on the community flagpole outside city hall Wednesday morning.
August 24 is Ukrainian Independence Day and city officials say the Ukrainian Canadian Congress is encouraging municipalities across the country to participate in this day as a show of support and solidarity for Ukraine and its people.
The flag will be raised at city hall at 9:30 a.m.
Today marks 31 years since Ukraine broke free from the former Soviet Union, and six months since Russian military forces invaded the eastern European country.
