A community group working on improving the property surrounding the Owen Sound Regional Hospital is making progress on an infrastructure project.
NeighbourWoods North Chair Lloyd Lewis says excavating will begin next month on the first phase of the 1.7-kilometre “healing path” around the hospital, as well as laying down crushed gravel to make the path accessible to everyone who wants to use it.
He says they’re also looking to add more plants along the path, “We plan on adding some more plants in and around it, and adding stations with benches and places to sit and gather.”
Lewis says that NeighbourWoods North is on schedule for the 10-year plan that was initially put in place in 2017, and he says that it’s nice to see their plans coming together. Extensive landscaping work and the planting of a welcoming garden at the hospital site are some of the completed items.
“You hope that it’ll all come together, but each year it’s all happening through the generosity of many people, through hard work and financial commitment from people. It puts a smile on our faces that things are coming together just nicely.”
He says they are always in need of volunteers.
