Collingwood’s new council will be getting a raise in the fall, and the mayor’s job will change from part-time to full-time.
After hiring a consulting firm to investigate their composition and pay rate compared to other municipalities, council has decided on some changes.
After the next election, the town will have a full-time mayor.
The mayor’s pay will rise from about 46 thousand to just over 60 thousand a year.
The size of council will stay the same at nine members, but councillors will see their pay rise from just under 26 thousand to 28 thousand a year.
The position of deputy mayor will remain unchanged and so will the pay, at just over 32 thousand a year.
