Owen Sound Police say an investigation’s been completed into recent acts of mischief to a building at Victoria Park and five youths are being held accountable.
City Police say numerous public complaints had been received regarding spray painting and other damage done to the structure known as the “Horse Barn” at the fairgrounds (Victoria Park).
According to police, three female youths were identified for committing mischief by spray painting and two male youths allegedly attempted break and enter.
All five youths were held accountable through the YMCA Youth Diversion Program, an alternative to court.
A statement from Owen Sound Police says: “Police can use diversion to hold a young person accountable for their behavior and make up for their mistakes through various tasks including participation in a justice circle, verbal or written apologies, community service, compensation, etc.”
