Local Saugeen Track and Field Club athletes have once again proven their mettle against the top talent in the province. STFC won 8 medals and set several personal best and seasonal best performances at the Athletics Ontario U16 and U18 Track and Field Championships held at T.D. Waterhouse Stadium in London over the weekend.
A small contingent of 7 STFC U18 girls scored enough points to place STFC as the 6th best club in the province in the Youth Division. The Youth Division had 49 clubs competing and included both Boys and Girls totals.
Brooklyn Quanz’s 3000m run of 9:51.43 was not only golden but also moved her into the number 5 ranking in Canada in that event. Also ranked nationally are Jasmine Broere, 6th in Discus and 7th in Shot Put and Michelle van Stuyvenberg, 7th in both Hammer and Discus.

Submission Arts United Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.
at Mississauga,
Landon Lorenowicz, from Hepworth, fighting out of Kilian Academy was able to secure a Bronze Medal in the double-elimination format competing against opponents who were in some cases 2 years older
from the Kilian Academy
Over the weekend the Oasis Convention Centre in Mississauga, played host to this year's Submission Arts United Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.
Landon Lorenowicz, from Hepworth, fighting out of Kilian Academy and proud member of Team Nogueira Fighting Club in Dubai, competed once again.
Thirteen-year-old yellow belt Lorenowicz, who competed in a combined Yellow, Orange and Green Belt division, faced off against teenagers two years older than him in the 13 to 15 age bracket. The
Ontario No-Gi Champion was unfazed by the age and skill gap and was able to secure a Bronze Medal in the double-elimination format.
“I enjoy training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and looking forward to my last competition here in Canada. The Submission Arts Tournament was a dress rehearsal for the Great Lake Open in Niagara and I would like to add a third gold to my summer adventure:” stated Landon Lorenowicz.
Landon, who was crowned Ontario No-Gi Champion on the 8th of July 2022, continued his dominance in Ontario by taking gold at the NextGen Toronto Tournament the following week. “A gold at the Great Lake Open will imply that Landon is one of the top 13-year-old BJJ athletes in Ontario, if not in Canada.” Stated Abrie Kilian, Head Coach and Program Director at Kilian Academy.
On the 6th of August, athletes from both the United States and Canada will compete in the Great Lake Open in Niagara. Scott Dixon will join the young Landon and represent Kilian Academy and GreyBruce County in the No-Gi version of BJJ, with Landon competing in Gi.
