A Bruce County man has been arrested after allegedly using an axe to damage property in downtown Owen Sound Sunday afternoon.
Owen Sound Police say a citizen phoned 911 shortly after 2 p.m. after observing a male in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue West with an axe.
Police say they responded immediately and located the male exiting a property with the axe in hand. Owen Sound Police did not disclose the specific property.
City Police say investigation revealed the male suspect had used the axe to break out the window of a parked car and damage some fencing.
“Through tactical communication police were able take the male into custody without incident and the axe was seized,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
The 45-year-old accused from Bruce County is being held awaiting a bail hearing on charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief (two counts).
