The City of Owen Sound says it is responding to concerns about a lack of available washroom facilities after-hours.
A release from the City says council recently received a deputation from a concerned citizen about the need to have ready access to clean, safe public washrooms any time of the day or night.
Ray Botten, an advocate for people experiencing homelessness made the deputation on June 27th, describing access to washrooms as a vital part of personal and public health and as fundamental to human dignity, especially for people who are restroom challenged.
The City says most washroom facilities do have a time-of-day availability. Those details are listed below.
It now has some 24-hour options. They are: Three portables at the inner harbour, a portable at the Mill Dam and a buzzer secured washroom at the Owen Sound police station. The portables are available during the summer. The police station is available every day of the year.
