The Federal government says vaccine mandates for domestic travel on planes and trains, as well as outgoing international travel, will be suspended starting June 20th.
The mandates will also be dropped for the core public service, transportation employees, and RCMP.
The mandates came into effect on October 30th, 2021, and meant passengers on planes or trains had to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Today Federal Health Minister Jean Yves Duclos said the context has changed.
“We now benefit from better levels of immunity from both vaccination and infection a wider availability of anti-viral drugs and lower and decreasing hospitalization rates,” he said.
Foreign nationals coming to Canada will still be required to be vaccinated.
Mandates will continue for Cruise ship passengers and crews.
