Get ready for some traffic delays in south Barrie, starting Wednesday.
The province is beginning a multi-year project to construct a new interchange at Essa Road and the 400.
Essa road will be widened to six lanes, and a brand new overpass will be constructed.
As of June 15, traffic on Essa Road under the 400 will be restricted to one lane in each direction.
An access road that runs along Highway 400 south of Essa Road will also be closed starting June 20th.
And the car pool lot at the interchange will be closed until the end of 2024.
An alternative lot can be found a block south along Essa road.
