Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for most of southern Ontario, including Simcoe County, warning of the first heat event of the season.
It says hot and increasingly humid weather is expected today and tomorrow with temperatures near 30 in many areas thanks to a high pressure system bringing summer-like heat to the province.
The weather agency also says there will be little relief at night, until cooler air arrives on Wednesday.
That’s when a cold front is expected to cross the region late in the day with a period of showers and thunderstorms, followed by cooler weather for the end of this week and continuing through the first weekend of June.
In order to beat the heat, find a place with air-conditioning to cool off, drink plenty of water and stay in the shade.
