Hanover Police say the investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire that destroyed two buildings in the southern Grey County town’s core continues.
According to police, the Ontario Fire Marshal concluded its on-site investigation at scene of the 10th Street fires and the Hanover Fire Department has cleared the scene.
Police say the search confirmed no one died in the blaze, but the remains of a number of pets including dogs and cats were found.
The former Forum Hotel rooming house and Fabulous Fashions buildings in Hanover were destroyed in an early morning fire last Thursday.

The property owners and their insurance providers are still determining the total dollar value on the losses and no estimates are available at this time.
Hanover Police say the buildings have been demolished for public safety reasons.
“Security fencing is also being installed around the fire scene to render it safe,” police say in a release.
Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll says in a social media post the town’s downtown core completely re-opened to pedestrians and traffic early Tuesday morning.
Community partners continue to engage all displaced residents who need assistance, police say. Everyone requiring housing has been placed.
