Emergency Task Force Personnel will be conducting training over the next couple of days at the Collingwood Grain Terminals.
It’s part of a Tactical Rope Access Workshop being held in the Blue Mountains.
The 16 students will include officers from all over Ontario and Canada.
Collingwood Fire Services will also be onsite during the workshop to observe the exercise and learn techniques.
S/Sgt. Joseph Shangi, President of the Ontario Tactical Advisory Body (OTAB) says, “This is the first year we will be hosting this valuable course. In the unfortunate event that a person in crisis needs to be rescued from a dangerous high angle, in the Town of Collingwood, the OPP TRU Team or the Barrie Police TSU will be attending Collingwood to deal with the incident. This course affords these officers the knowledge and tools to successfully rescue such individuals.”
Collingwood Fire Services will also be onsite during the workshop. “We are pleased that Collingwood was chosen for the location of this workshop and that Collingwood Fire Services will be able to observe the exercise and learn techniques,” says Ross Parr, Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) for the Town.
Don’t be alarmed if you see people rappelling down the side of the Collingwood Grain Terminals May 17 & 18. These are Emergency Task Force Personnel participating in a Tactical Rope Access Workshop.
