Two new electric vehicle charging stations have been installed at Bruce County’s offices in Kincardine — known as the Penetangore Hub.
County officials say the E-V chargers at 529 Gary Street are a further expansion of Bruce County’s commitment to a clean energy future.
Bruce County is collaborating with other midwestern Ontario counties and cities to develop a “401 to Lake Huron Regional EV Charging Network” plan, which will improve EV charging options for residents and visitors.
“Continuing to pursue clean energy opportunities will help our region move towards a more carbon neutral and environmentally sustainable future,” says Bruce County Warden Janice Jackson, “Creating opportunities for visitors and residents to recharge their electric vehicles at key community sites is a real game changer.”
Bruce County installed its first E-V charger at the Bruce County Administration Centre in Walkerton in 2018.
Since then, the county says more than 7,250 kg of greenhouse gas emissions have been avoided. This is the equivalent to planting 193 trees and letting them grow for 10 years.
In addition to the new charging stations at the Penetangore Hub in Kincardine, Bruce County has others installed at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton, the Peninsula Hub in Wiarton and the Bruce County Administration Centre in Walkerton.
