Those who would like to run for municipal council or to become a school board trustee can now file a nomination.
The election is set for October 24th 2022.
Candidates interested in running for local offices can file their nomination with their municipal clerk.
The cost to file a nomination for head of council is $200 and it is $100 for all other offices.
Nominations for council must have an Endorsement of Nomination, signed by at least 25 qualified electors, meaning they must be eligible to vote in that municipality, on the day of their endorsement of the nomination.
Those who are interested in running for council or the school board can find more information on their municipality’s website.
Some municipalities recommend booking an appointment to file a nomination.
Meanwhile, third party advertiser registrations are also open. A third party advertiser is any individual, corporation or trade union that causes an election campaign advertisement to appear. Third party advertisers are required to register with their municipality.
Registrations of third party advertisers will be accepted until Friday, October 21, 2022 during regular office hours.
Until the registration is certified, a third party advertiser may not spend money on their campaign, cannot accept contributions or begin advertising.
The final day to file a candidate nomination is Friday August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
