The OPP is investigating a fatal head-on two-vehicle collision on Highway 11.
It happened in the northbound lanes, south of Line 7 in Oro-Medonte just after 2 am today.
Police had received reports of a wrong-way driver. One person was confirmed dead at the scene.
No other injuries have been reported.
Due to significant damage to the highway, MTO is attending to assess the situation. The northbound lanes of Highway 11 will remain closed until further notice.
Orillia OPP reminds all members of the motoring public to take care and stay alert while driving.
This sadly marks the fifth fatality this week on OPP Central Region patrolled highways and the ninth fatality in the month of April in the Region.
