During Barrie’s Spring into Clean events, elementary and secondary schools in the municipality collected more than 21-hundred kgs of litter from their property and surrounding park areas.
The city says schools were provided with gloves and garbage bags to assist with the clean-up efforts last week, and there were 32 Barrie schools who participated this year.
The top six classes who collected the most litter were thanked with gift cards yesterday from Tim Hortons, the presenting sponsor for Spring into Clean.
- Codrington Public School –Ms. Eisses’ class
- Portage View Public School – Ms. Belanger’s class
- W.C. Little Elementary School – Mrs. Phipps’ class
- Allandale Heights Public School – Mrs. Gilchrist’s class
- Holly Meadows Elementary School – Mrs. McDiarmid’s class
- St. Bernadette Catholic School – Ms. Stille’s class
The City would like to thank all administrators, educators, school staff, and students who helped out with this school community clean-up project.
