Another donation has been announced in the fundraising effort to finance the construction of the second phase of the Lamont Sports Park in Port Elgin.
KNK Lawn Care has contributed $50,000 to the Lamont Sports Park Illuminating Dreams Campaign for naming rights to one of the six baseball diamonds for the next 20 years.
Matt and Melissa Mulholland, owners of KNK, presented the cheque to Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau, Vice-Deputy Mayor and Illuminating Dreams Campaign Co-Chair Mike Myatt and Campaign Co-Chair Rob Stanley.
“We are so excited to be a small part of this amazing project,” says Matt Mulholland. “We are very grateful and absolutely love being able to give back in any way we can. We live in a special place and are very fortunate to call it home.”
Mayor Charbonneau says in a statement: “The Mulhollands and KNK Lawn Care have consistently demonstrated they will support initiatives that improve the quality of life for the residents of Saugeen Shores. Their generous donation to Phase 2 is truly astounding and we are very fortunate to have this local business operating in our community.”
The Lamont Sports Park Illuminating Dreams Campaign is working to raise $1 million in donations for Phase 2, with the Town of Saugeen Shores planning to match those funds.
More than $500,000 in contributions from businesses and community organizations in the area have been announced in the past month for the project.
The second phase of the Lamont Sports Park would add two new baseball diamonds to the four constructed for Phase 1, which is set to open in 2023.
