Several Barrie schools have collected over 2,000 kgs of litter from their properties and surrounding park areas.
During the City of Barrie’s Spring into Clean events, which happened between April 22nd to 24th, elementary and secondary schools in the municipality collected a total of 2,130 kgs of litter.
Schools were provided with gloves and garbage bags to assist with the clean-up efforts, and there were 32 Barrie schools that participated this year.
Earlier today, the top six classes who collected the most litter were thanked with gift cards from Tim Hortons, the presenting sponsor for Spring into Clean.

- Portage View Public School – Ms. Belanger’s class
- W.C. Little Elementary School – Mrs. Phipps’ class
- Allandale Heights Public School – Mrs. Gilchrist’s class
- Holly Meadows Elementary School – Mrs. McDiarmid’s class
- St. Bernadette Catholic School – Ms. Stille’s class
